1. Initialization of a New Compact Flash Memory Card

An error message "ErC" may appear on the LCD status panel if a memory card is inserted without being initialized.

To initialize the memory card, use "Del All" in the mode functions.

Once initialized, the CF card can store data (images and MP3 files).

 Caution

  • Please be aware that the life expectancy of a Compact Flash Memory Card is determined by the amount of usage and the way it is cared for.

Data on the CF card may be lost or damaged if:

- The card is pulled out forcefully or the power is turned-off while recording data, initializing the card, reading data, or playing data.

Please backup important data by using a second form of storage media such as floppy disk, zip drive, CD-R, or hard disk.

Please note that a Sampo Corporation can not take responsibility for the loss or damage of data on a Compact Flash card.

3. Cautions when using a Compact Flash Memory Card

Caution

  • Do not remove the CF card or turn off the camera when transferring digital images and MP3 files between the camera and the computer. The card will sustain serious damage if this happens.
  • The Compact Flash card is a very sophisticated solid-state memory device. Do not bend, press, or drop it.
  • Do not allow the CF card to get wet.
  • Avoid storing in places with electrical interference.
  • Avoid storing in dusty, corrosive, or hot environments.
  • Be cautious not to expose to the small pin-sockets to dust particles. Please wipe clean with a smooth cloth if this happens.
  • Please keep the card in the case provided to safeguard against short circuits.
  • After long periods of time the Compact Flash card will generate heat, this is normal.
