 1. Taking Images (Pictures)

  1. Slide the On/Off switch towards "ON". When the camera is ready, the LCD will indicate the operational mode, battery status, and memory status.
  2. Compose your digital images using the viewfinder, making sure that the lens is not covered by your fingers, the hand strap, or any other object.
  3. Prevent the camera from shaking as you press the shutter button down until the camera beeps.
  4. While saving an image to the memory card, the LCD Status panel will show "BUSY".

 Caution

  • Occasionally images will not be stored if the camera is not ready. The camera beeps twice if it is not ready, and the exposure counter will not change. Please wait several seconds and try again to capture an image.

 Caution

  • If the camera beeps twice, check for an error message on the LCD, correct the problem, and try again.
  • Be careful not to block the viewfinder, lens, or flash.
  • Camera motion while pressing the shutter button can cause blurred images.
  • If "BUSY" is displayed on the LCD, do not open the battery door, remove the Compact Flash memory card, or turn the camera off. The image may not be stored properly.

3. Camera Mode Selection

Pressing the Mode Button will cause the mode icon on the LCD panel to change. When the desired mode appears, press the Enter button and the mode will be set, as desired.

  • This mode sets the image resolution to Hi, known as VGA (640 x 480).

  • This mode sets the image resolution to Low, known as CIF (320 x 240).

  • This mode deletes the latest image.

  • This mode deletes all images in memory.
  • When the Error message "ErC " is displayed, press "DEL ALL" to format the Compact Flash memory card. This should only occur when an unformatted Compact Flash card is inserted.

 Reference

  • The Mode will change by pressing the Mode button for two seconds.
  • The "DEL ALL" function will not delete MP3 tracks, only images.

 Caution

  • When deleting data, do not open the battery cover or remove the Compact Flash card as it may result in losing data on the Compact Flash card.
  • Be cautious not to delete important images/MP3 tracks by mistake.

4. Flash Mode Selection

Your camera has two flash modes. "Flash Off" will appear as the first flash mode. When you press the Flash button, the flash mode will alternate between "Flash Off" and "Auto Flash".

  • "Flash Off" disengages the flash. This is the default setting.

  • "Automatic Flash" is a flash mode where the camera will automatically decide whether the flash is necessary when the Shutter button is pressed. This will depend upon lighting conditions.

 Reference

  • While the flash charges, "" will blink. If the Shutter button is pressed while the flash is charging, the camera will sound a warning signal and it will not take an image.
  • If the object is in dim (low) light, "Lob " will blink and the camera will sound a warning signal by beeping twice. An image cannot be taken. Please change the flash mode to Auto Flash Mode and try again.
  • Considerable battery power is used when using the flash.
  • Although the flash will normally charge in about 10 seconds, the charge time will be longer when the batteries are low.

 Caution

  • The flash will only work properly when the subject is between four to six feet. If the flash is used when the subject is less than four feet from the camera the image may be overexposed.
  • Do not use the flash at close range, especially with infants. Be careful not to take a close-up of people using the flash as this can damage the subjects eyes. Never use the flash within three feet of infants.
