General Precautions

  • Your new camera is composed of very sophisticated components. If exposed to any of the following environmental conditions camera-operation could be impaired. The camera should be kept away from:
    • Severe changes in temperature and humidity.
    • Dust and dirt .
    • Direct sunlight or the inside of a vehicle in hot weather.
    • Areas of high vibration.
    • An area with explosive or highly flammable materials.
    • Humidifiers or air conditioners.
    • Areas with high magnetic fields.
    • Damp environments.
    • Harsh chemicals, or corrosive environments.

  • Never allow your camera to come into contact with sand.

If sand gets into electronic devices like your camera, it can cause severe malfunctions. Keep sand away from the lens and viewfinder optics.

  • Always be cautious not to expose your camera to temperature extremes.

If the camera is transferred from a cold to a hot environment (or vice versa), condensation may form inside the device. If moisture gets into the camera turn it off and wait about one hour until all moisture has dispersed. Similarly, moisture build up may also happen in the Compact Flash card. If this happens turn off the device, remove the Compact Flash card, and wait until the moisture has dispersed.

  • If your camera will not used for a long period, remove the batteries to prevent discharge and possible damage if the batteries corrode.

  • Avoid direct sunlight into the lens.

Direct sunlight may affect the Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor by causing overheating and fading.

  • Maintenance

To clean the lens or LCD Status panel, a soft brush should be used. Lens-cleaning paper with lens cleaning fluid may also be used.

  • DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DISASSEMBLE OR MODIFY THE CAMERA BY YOURSELF.
